Erice tour

TOUR DETAILS

Fascinating and solitary medieval village, a labyrinth of elegant cobbled streets overlooked by the ancient artisan shops and pastry shops of the Erice tradition.
A tour that will take you straight to the heart of the history of Sicily, destination the spectacular Valley of the Temples in Agrigento. Archaeological area among the most beautiful in Italy, as well as the largest and best preserved, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997. Among the magnificent almond trees that characterize the area, there are the remains of the ancient Akragas, defined by the Greek poet Pindar as “the most beautiful city built by mortals”.
Most of the Temples date back to the 5th century BC; there are twelve temples of which the park preserves the remains; among them, without a doubt, the best preserved is the Temple of Concordia, with its splendid golden columns. Along the way you will also see the remains of the Temple of Juno, the Temple of Demeter, and then three sanctuaries, the necropolis, hydraulic works, fortifications, the Lower Agora and the Upper Agora, an Olympeion and a Bouleuterion. The agora housed sacred areas and areas of shops, while the bouleuterion was a public building linked to the meetings of the assembly of representatives elected by the people. Whether you follow a predetermined path, or simply decide to wander among the monuments in complete freedom, a visit to the Valleys of the Temples is still a unique and unmissable experience.
